1. WALK, JOG OR CYCLE
As mentioned above Akumal is a quiet neighborhood where safety is one of the most valuable things for the community. You are able to explore the area at any time you like and find all the things Akumal has to offer like restaurants, the public beach and many stores with regional artesany. Don't worry about getting lost as Akumal is pretty mucha a straight line.
2. SNORKEL OR KAYAK THROUGH HALF MOON BAY
One of the top atractions in Akumal is the fact that it has it's own reef just 20 feet form the shore, so if you are feeling adventurous go ahead and grab your snorkel equipment or a Kayak and watch the beautiful underwater ecosistem without having to leave the area. We always suggest to bring water shoes as it can be rocky when entering the sea.

3. WATCH THE TURTLES
Akumal is a mayan word wich translates as "Turtle Place", this name was given to it because it is the home for almost 50 turtles all year long, the best part of it is that they breed and hatch on Akumal shores so if you are lucky enough during your visit from may to late october you could watch one of mother's nature wonders. You can also find them swimming on both Akumal Bays.
4. VISIT AKUMAL CENTER AND PUBLIC BEACH
While cooking at home is always a posibility you might want to taste some of the local cuisine which will leave you stuned by it's flavors, our personal favourite are the Coconut Shrimps from "La Lunita" a well know restaurant in the area but we really recommend to explore all the posibilities. If you are feeling more adventurous you might want to get your divers licence in Akumal Dive Center on the public beach, they'll take care of you and know the best diving spots.
5. RELAX
You have earned your well deserved vacations and it's always a priority to take care of yourself so, why not taking this time to do so? Read a book while taking the sun, take a nap on one of the hammocks, tan yourself next to the pool, enjoy a really cold margarita while looking at the ocean...the posibilities are there for you.
